About This Ryde Bathroom Renovation Service

A plain description of how the business is set up, so nothing about it is a surprise after the measure.

Licence and insurance details are provided on your discovery call, or whenever you ask. Request them →

The short version

Ryde Bathroom Renovations arranges bathroom, ensuite, accessible, laundry and rental-property renovation work across the City of Ryde. You tell us about the room and the building, a measure is arranged, and the licensed builder who would carry out the work prepares a scaled drawing and a written, itemised quote.

We do not hold a builder's licence ourselves. That is on this page rather than buried in a footer, because it is the first thing you should know.

The builder

Renovation work is carried out in partnership with Coastal Renovation Group, a licensed NSW builder. Licence and insurance details are provided on request — on the discovery call, or at any point you ask.

Once you have the number, look it up yourself on the NSW Fair Trading register. The public listing shows the licence holder, the class, whether it is current, when it expires and any disciplinary history. Please check it rather than relying on us saying so.

Plumbing, electrical, waterproofing and asbestos removal are separately licensed in NSW and are carried out by appropriately licensed trades.

Why only the City of Ryde

Because the bathrooms here are a specific problem, repeated thousands of times.

Between the rail line and Victoria Road, a very large share of the housing is three-storey face-brick walk-ups built between the late 1950s and the mid 1970s. Their bathrooms sit on a concrete slab under a thick hand-laid mortar bed, with the waste pipes cast into it, frequently no membrane at all, and a stack shared with the flats above and below. The floor plan is close to identical from one block to the next.

Knowing that room means knowing the answers before we arrive: that the bed will be 40 to 70 mm thick, that the toilet probably cannot move far, that the ceiling is dark in the corner because the fan vents into the roof space, and that the first real hurdle is the owners corporation rather than the council. It also means knowing the tightest landing on the stairwell decides the largest vanity that can reach your door.

The rest of the district gets the same treatment for different reasons. Denistone and much of Eastwood are post-war brick houses where the bathroom, separate toilet and laundry can become one good room. Gladesville has genuinely old housing and two council areas to keep straight. Meadowbank and Macquarie Park are newer towers with formal renovation guidelines and investor owners.

What we think matters in these rooms

Solve it on paper. In a room under four square metres with pipe positions you cannot change, the drawing is the job. A layout worked out against measured waste positions costs nothing; a layout discovered during demolition costs a variation.

The things you cannot see are the things that matter. Falls and the membrane cannot be corrected later without demolishing the room again. Everything visible can be replaced. That is where the care goes, and in a stacked block it is also where the risk to your neighbours lives.

Ventilation is not an upgrade. It is the reason the ceiling is black. A correctly sized fan on a run-on timer, ducted to outside air where the building permits it, is one of the cheapest lines in the quote and the one most often skipped.

Honest constraints beat optimistic promises. If the toilet cannot move, we say so at the measure. If a second bathroom is not viable in your flat, we say that too, before you pay anyone to design it.

What we will not do

  • Invent reviews, ratings or testimonials. This is a new business, there are none yet, and there are none on this website.
  • Claim years in business or a number of completed projects that cannot be substantiated.
  • Print licence numbers, ABNs or ACNs on the website. You get them directly, on request.
  • Quote a bathroom from photographs alone. The things that set the price are not visible in a photo.
  • Tell you a bathroom renovation does not need strata approval because the room is small. The trigger is waterproofing, not floor area.

How a job runs

  1. A free measure, and a conversation about the room, the building and the household
  2. A scaled drawing with the fittings placed, and a written, itemised quote
  3. Selections confirmed, and the owners corporation application pack prepared where the building needs one
  4. A contract with the builder, home building compensation cover in place before any deposit is requested where the contract is above the NSW threshold, and a deposit of no more than 10 per cent
  5. The build, stage by stage, with the waterproofing documented
  6. Handover, with the certificates and paperwork you should keep

The process page sets out every stage, and the cost page has broad 2026 tiers for planning.
